Second Life for a Second Chance: Empowering Youth Through Tech and Music
At Alary Technologies, community impact has always been at the heart of what we do. That’s why we’re incredibly proud to announce the launch of Second Life for a Second Chance, a new initiative in partnership with The Refuge in Oshawa. This collaborative effort is focused on collecting gently used Apple devices and music equipment to support at-risk youth through creativity, education, and opportunity.
Why This Initiative Matters
Young people facing homelessness or economic hardship often lack access to the tools and resources needed to build a better future. Simple things—like access to a computer, a set of headphones, or a music production tool—can unlock new worlds of learning, self-expression, and career potential.
With this in mind, Second Life for a Second Chance gives donated technology a meaningful new purpose. All Apple devices received will be securely wiped and repurposed to help youth at The Refuge develop digital skills, write resumes, and explore music production.
Who Is The Refuge?
The Refuge is a youth outreach center based in downtown Oshawa that provides vital support to young people experiencing homelessness or crisis. More than just a shelter, The Refuge offers meals, counseling, housing support, and life skills training. But perhaps most importantly, it gives youth a sense of belonging—and a safe space to dream again.
Through creative programming like music, art, and media, The Refuge encourages self-expression and healing, and empowers youth to take control of their stories.
